Let’s face it! History can be dry to some students! But it doesn’t have to be that way!

The Knights At School assemblies bring the Middle Ages to life for your students, helping them to learn while having fun! We will send to your school our resident knight, Everett O’Keefe, to provide one of two different assemblies for your students. Choose from the Medieval History Assembly or the Character Counts Chivalry Assembly to educate and mesmerize students of grades up to 8th grade.

In either Medieval Assembly, your knight, Everett O’Keefe, brings his deep knowledge of the Middle Ages along with his suit of plate armor and a collection of Medieval weapons to share with your students. Through humor, audio-visual elements, and hands-on interaction, Everett shares the wonders and realities of life in Middle Ages.

THE MEDIEVAL HISTORY ASSEMBLY!

In the Medieval History Assembly, The Knight brings a wide array of armor, helmets, and weapons to share with students while he explains the history of these items and how they shaped the Middle Ages. He also allows selected students to try on armor, handle (safe) weapons, and even test one or two weapons on the Knight! This is a highly interactive event, and students are encouraged, nay, required to ask and answer a great many questions! CHARACTER COUNTS AND CHIVALRY!

Did you know that every pillar of Character Counts is present in the ancient Code of Chivalry? That’s right! Written over 1000 years, the Code of Chivalry is a great way to tie historical learning to modern character development! The Character Counts Chivalry Assembly is designed to teach students the six pillars of Character Counts in an entirely new way…through the ancient knightly rules of Chivalry. Chivalry is explained, and students are shown how the rules of Chivalry had a great effect on the life of a knight. Learn more!

Who is The Knight?

Your Knight in Shining Armor, Everett O’Keefe, has a B.A. in English Literature with more than 30 units in post-graduate studies in Medieval and Renaissance Literature. Having traveled to Europe numerous times, and having lived in England for six months as well, Everett has had the luxury of walking among the great castles and ruins of the world, dining in old Great Halls, and exploring the dark dungeons beneath. Alas, Everett is not a real knight but happens to be descended distantly from knights and royalty as well, being related in some fashion to King John O’Keefe, one of the many petty kings of early Irish history.

A former professional educator who had taken his talents to the business world, your knight now combines his passion for kids and his deep understanding of history to create a truly special and educational event.
